Jim was predeceased by his wife and best friend of 54 years, Carolyn Gail Pulliam Westbrook. Jim is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Larry and Vicki May and Tom and Patti Webber, grandchildren Kenneth and Kate May, Carolynn and Chad Girard, James and Auburn May, Katie Webber, Betsy and Clint Neville, Melanie and Jeremy Sims, Aimee and Cody Walden and great-grandchildren Landon, Blake, and Wyatt Girard, Orin May, Jace May, Austin, Haley, and Wesley Neville, and Cooper Sims. Through the years, he served in many areas including choir, Sunday School (as a teacher and Superintendent), United Methodist Men’s group, Vacation Bible School volunteer, and numerous committees. Jim was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Grace United Methodist Church, and then the United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches. He often expressed gratitude for his family, friends, and every act of kindness. He loved life and all of the people in it. Jim lived his life for Christ, putting Jesus first, then others, then himself. Following his retirement in 1991, he continued to teach through the Adult Education Program. He then taught math and served as an administrator at Forest Hill High School, Twin Lakes High School, and Palm Beach Lakes High School. He was a coach and teacher in North Carolina before marrying Carolyn Gail Pulliam and moving to West Palm Beach.ĭuring his thirty-six years as an educator in Palm Beach County, Jim taught math at Palm Beach High School and Golfview Jr. Jim earned his bachelor’s degree at Appalachian State Teachers College and his master’s degree from “Ole Miss”. He was raised in a loving, Christian family. “Jimmie”, the fifth of seven children, was born on to Ed and Annie Wee Westbrook in Rock Hill, South Carolina. James Wylie Westbrook passed away peacefully on March 10, 2020.
